For publishers

This site republishes datasets that Australian governments already publish under an open licence. It does not change the content. It types the cells, renames the headers, converts the encoding and serves the result at a URL that never changes, in the formats developers and analysts ask for.

What you get without asking

• Your attribution string inside every file, in the form your licence asks for.
• A version for every release you make, with a diff against the release before, so your own history is visible.
• Your original file beside every version, byte for byte, so anyone can check our work.
• A statement on every page and in every catalogue record that you have not endorsed this site.
• No traffic to your servers from our readers. We fetch once per release and serve everything from here.

What we would like from you

• A download URL that does not change between releases. Portals that rename the file each quarter still work, but a stable URL means we never need a browser to fetch it.
• A licence stated on the dataset page. A dataset with no licence stated waits in the backlog until you confirm one in writing.
• A contact for corrections. If a reader finds a problem in the content, we send it to you.

If you would rather we did not

Write to us and say so. We will remove the dataset and record the removal. The licence allows republication, but we would rather work with you than around you.

If you would like more

The backlog shows which of your datasets people have asked for and how many votes each has. We build in vote order. If you want one built sooner, or want the same treatment for data you have not published yet, talk to National Digital, the company that runs this site.
