Queensland Shark Control Program catches

Publisher Department of Primary IndustriesLicence CC BY 4.0Tables 3Latest 2026-06-19Covers since 1996

The Queensland Shark Control Program sets nets and drumlines off popular beaches from the Gold Coast to Cairns. The Department of Primary Industries publishes what the gear catches, sharks and the other animals caught with them, such as turtles, rays and dolphins.

This collection holds three tables. The catch numbers table counts animals by month, beach and species since 1996. The biological table has one row per animal with its length and sex. The Great Barrier Reef table lists each animal caught in the marine park with its date, for the current financial year.

Department of Primary Industries releases these 3 tables as one dataset on its portal, so every table here shares the version date 2026-06-19. Each table has its own page with a format picker, a field list, a sample record and its version history.

Also called: Great Barrier Reef drumline catches, QLD shark control catches, Queensland Shark Control Program biological information, Queensland Shark Control Program catch statistics for Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, Queensland drumline catch data, Queensland shark net catch statistics, Size of sharks caught in Queensland shark nets.
